1.What's the collagen?
Collagen is actually a group of naturally occurring proteins in the body, mainly in our connective tissue or "fibrous" tissue. In fact, it is the most abundant protein we have, accounting for about 30 percent of human protein. onnective tissues support and connect several types of tissues and organs in the body, being a kind of cellular "glue". Cartilages, fats and tendons are examples of fibrous tissues. Collagen is also found in ligaments, in blood vessels, in bones and, of course, in the skin.
2.What's the elastin ?
Elastin is also a protein in connective tissue, but it is a different type of protein from collagen. It has the practical characteristics of elasticity. It is responsible for "restoring" the tissue in the body to its original shape after being stretched or contracted. For this reason, it is often compared to a rubber band. Elastin is found in arterial walls, lungs, intestines and, of course, skin. Imagine how blood vessels expand, for example, when blood is pumped out, and then contract again when they empty.
3. Munurinn á kollageni og elastíni:
"Structure" – collagen is a structural protein found in skin and connective tissue, where as elastin is a structural protein found in the connective tissue of the elastic structures
"Abundance in the human body" – collagen in the third most abundant protein in the human body, whereas elastin is less abundant
"Function" – collagen gives strength to structures, whereas elastin makes the structures elastic
"Production" – collagen is produced throughout the life until aging begins whereas elastin is produced during the fetal period.
